"A realistic account of the Chinese Communist Army by a U.S. Army officer, who gained his intimate knowledge of this huge, incongruous force the hard way." This copy is ex-USAF library, and sports a rubber stamp impression on the half title and copyright page reading "Personnel Services | Library Depot, HQ WADF | AF 2411 LO", and has "United States Air Force" stamped on top and bottom edges. 5-3/4" x 8-1/2", xiv + 378pp. Sewn binding in yellow cloth-coloured boards with yellow head and tail bands. Cover is decorated with silk screened title block and illustration of fighting horde in black with the title (in English and Chinese) in red. Spine, which is slightly faded, sports different screened illustration / design in red and black. Rear board is internally separated from paste down sheet adjacent to spine but remains firmly attached. Binding is square and sound. There is a 1" horizontal closed tear in from the fore edge midway up the title page. In addition to the previously noted rubber stamp impression, on the copyright page, in black fountain pen, is written: "A4966 | 52-111A | 3.75". The same notation appears on the back paste down, and on the back free end paper are the remains of cellophane tape used to attach a card pocket, since lost. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
