Richard F Searight wrote much of his fictional and poetical work during the 1930s at a time when he was honoured to have Howard Phillips Lovecraft as his epistolary friend. Lovecraft read many of the drafts and offered a critique of Searight's work. HPL also suggested that Richard should get in touch with another contemporary, Clark Ashton Smith, whom Lovecraft thought would be in a better position to advise on Richard's tales which were more Science Fiction than Horror. The first of what was projected to be be a three-volume project collecting the fiction and poetry (most unpublished) of this veteran of the pulp years and friendly correspondent of H. P. Lovecraft. (Only one more volume appeared, THE SEALED CASKET.) The present volume includes five stories, a dozen poems, and an introduction by the author's son.
