Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 225 Years in Chester Basin 1760-1985; Everett M. Backman, Catherine Fitch, Richard E. Eldridge; printed in Canada by Wm. MacNab & Son Limited, Halifax, Nova Scotia. From the introduction Chester Basin is a picturesque community nestled at the head of a long, graceful arm of Mahone Bay. The district encompasses all that area lying between the Gold and Middle Rivers and the lands to the north, known as Chester Grant. Over 400 families make their homes here. Schools and churches have long been established and the recent additions of a fire station and banking services have expanded the scope of the community. Newcomers and the descendants of the original settlers live side by side sharing a love of Chester Basin's wide spaces, the beauty of the land and the sea, and all are proud of the heritage surrounding them. This book will present, through pictures and words, the development of Chester Basin from the construction of its first buildings by settlers two hundred and twenty-five years ago. Few things are as enduring as those simple wooden structures erected so long ago and many fine examples remain throughout the community reminding us, almost daily, of our unique and rich heritage. This book, 103 pages, is in fine condition in a very-good dust jacket, that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. The many photos and text are printed in brown on very light brown paper stock that creates a warm rather than a crisp look. A very scarce book.…
