Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book dives into the medical advancements made in the lives of women throughout the 19th century. It begins by challenging the myth that early doctors were less prone to error or delusion than medical professionals today. The author notes that many ineffective and sometimes fatal treatments throughout history fell out of practice only when enough patients died or suffered. He details one such widely adopted theory, then debunked and abandoned, concerning extensive and invasive surgery aimed at treating female back pain. The author then introduces Dr. Thomas Addis Emmet, who pioneered effective treatment for cervical lacerations, which was mistakenly used to treat the back pain of countless women who did not need the surgery. This book offers valuable insights into the historical context and progress of modern gynecological treatment. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
