Mit Widmung von Albert Bächtold in blauer Tinte auf fliegendem Vorsatzblatt («Mit eme früntliche Gruess / Albert Bächtold»). «Buchausstattung: Richard Lohse, Zürich». - Albert Bächtold (geb. 1891, Wilchingen, gest. 198…1, Grüningen), «Ausbildung zum Lehrer am Seminar Schaffhausen. 1911-13 Lehrer in Merishausen, 1913-18 Russlandaufenthalt (zunächst als Hauslehrer tätig, dann Kaufmannslehre). 1920 Vortragsreise in die USA, nach der Rückkehr Handel mit tragbaren Filmvorführapparaten. Sein dadurch erworbenes Vermögen verlor er in der Weltwirtschaftskrise von 1930 vollständig. Ab 1939 publizierte B. Romane in Klettgauer Mundart ("De Tischtelfink", 1939; "De goldig Schmid", 1941), insbes. einen siebenbändigen autobiogr. gefärbten Romanzyklus um die Figur Rebmann (u. a. "De Studänt Räbme", 1947; "Pjotr Ivanowitsch", 1947). B. wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, u. a. 1941 mit dem Grossen Preis der Büchergilde Gutenberg. 1960 Ehrenbürger von Wilchingen» (HLS).
