Trade Paperback. Condición: Very Good. First Printing. 565 Pages Indexed. Light wear to covers. A tight straight book. Interior text and illustration pages are flawless. The definitive account of the Battle of the Bulge victory over Adolf Hitler, featuring maps and photographs, and written by a team headed by eminent military historian Trevor Du. Many books have been written about the last major battle in Europe at the end of World War II, but none of them with the detail and resources of this fiftieth-anniversary volume about that historic event. Hardcover. Sewn binding. Cloth over boards. xxiii, [1], 565, [1] p. Illustrations. Glossary. Notes. Bibliography. Index. From Wikipedia: "Trevor Nevitt Dupuy (May 3, 1916 June 5, 1995) was a Colonel, United States Army, retired, soldier and noted military historian. After the war Dupuy served in the United States Department of Defense Operations Division from 1945 to 1947. He was a member of the original Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) staff in Paris under Generals Dwight D. Eisenhower and Matthew Ridgway from 1950 to 1952. It is as a military historian and a theorist that Trevor Dupuy would make a lasting mark on the world. After Dupuy left active service in the Army in 1952, he helped found the Harvard Defense Studies Program (directed from 1958 to 1971 by Henry Kissinger). Dupuy's main contribution is the assessment method Quantified Judgment Method or QJM, where the outcome of a battle is predicted using a multiplicative-additive formula in which factors relating to the strength and firepower of the fighting parties and the circumstances are taken into account. Original textured blue cloth with gilt lettering on covers and spines in photo-illustrated dustjackets, brown lettering on spine. Frontispiece maps. The Pontos and its Empire of Trebizond (1204-1461) embraced the distinctive Black Sea coastlands, mountains and pastures of northeastern Anatolia. "The purpose of this Study is twofold. First, it is an essay in placing the material remains of the medieval peoples of a distinct region of Anatolia, the Pontos, in their historical and geographical setting. Second, it is a record - all too often of what can no longer be recorded. In the two decades since Anthony Bryer (A.A.M.B.) and David Winfield (D.C.W.) first met in the east porch of the Hagia Sophia, Trebizond, on 19 August 1959, the Pontos has suffered a greater physical transformation than in its entire previous history." (Preface). Illustrated with some five hundred b/w photographs on 290 plates, three folding maps, two in two colors, and in-text drawings, maps, plans and tables. Contains list of figures, abbreviations and an extensive bibliography at front, appendix with measurements and indices at rear. Dustjackets with light creasing at top and bottom edges, light creasing hear, and small closed tear at top left of volume two. Interiors in near fine condition.…
