Helen Neilson Rhodes (1875 - 1938) was a Wisconsin-born painter, block printer, lithographer, illustrator and professor of Drawing at the University of Washington. Best known for her blockprint illustrations for Paul Bunyan Comes West, she also won prizes in several contests. Arts and Crafts folklore title with tales of American folk hero Paul Bunyan in the Pacific Northwest. Washington English professor Ida Virginia Turney recounts Paul Bunyan's exploits in the logging woods of the Northwest. SCARCE with remarkably good and nearly complete dust jacket (not price-clipped). Very Scarce dj has losses mainly to its head and foot. Arts & Crafts-based Illustrations are in Exceptional condition and without foxing. Very handsomely produced and illustrated book with special paper and illustrations. Cloth color uniformly altered with age. Small light rectangle on lower edge of front free endpaper likely caused by removal of bookseller's sticker.
