First published in 1895, re-issued in 1986 by Ashford Press Publishing, Southampton. Very nice neat and spotless book in clear neat cover. Excellent condition, and still an excellent guide to all aspects of the bird.

Hugh Alexander Macpherson (1858-1901) was a clergyman, a noted zoologist and a Member of the British Ornithologists' Union. His 'The Vertebrate Fauna of Lakeland,' suggested by, and following the main lines of, Harvie-Brown and Buckley's series of faunas of the Scottish areas, is probably his best known work. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition although a previous owner has covered the board and spine in clear sticky-backed plastic. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the front free endpaper.PLEASE NOTE: This is a fairly heavy book and extra postage may apply for delivery outside the UK.

Hard Back. Condición: Very Good+. 1st Edition. Very lightly used; some pages remain unopened. Original green cloth boards with gilt spine titles and gilt top edge; some tanning to spine and very slight bumping to top and bottom of spine otherwise excellent. Internally very crisp, clean and bright; very little age toning and very little foxing, just affecting the first and final few leaves and the outside edges of the textblock. All 8 glorious sepia plates and their tissue guards remain in excellent condition. Attractively coloured folding map at rear also excellent except for a <4cm tear to a fold at the top margin. A very well preserved copy of this delightfully illustrated work.
