Hardcover. Condición: Very Good-. No Dust Jacket. First Edition. Original red cloth binding with black lettering, and black vignette of the little slave boy to the front board. Very good copy with a little general wear to the boards which are slightly marked here and there and has some spotting on the rear board, but overall VG…minus. 74 pp + 6 pages of the SPCK publisher's book adverts. A b/w frontispiece line drawn illustration of Khartoum, and b/w decorative chapter headpieces. The book has a printed dedication from the Bishop on the reverse of the title page, to "Sir Samuel and Lady Baker who.did more to open up 'the River of Egypt'.and to supress throughoput its course the horrors and Villanies of THE ACCURSED SLAVE-TRADE." . A typical SPCK production but with the difference that although the usual moral tale it is factual and highlights the Abolition movement, and the slave-trade, etc. All hinges tight, and overall this is a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. ; 8vo 6" - 8" tall.
