Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. Photography by Laura Resen Ilustrador. 1st Edition. First Edition (Number Line to 1). Here's something to take note of: there's only one other book for sale on this site that has its dust jacket, and that one is an ex-library book. This book, my book, has its dust jacket (an excellent one), is definitely Not ex-library, and unlike any other, is signed by the author. Once listed, it will be the Only signed copy for sale on the Internet. The signed inscription is on the half-title page. It reads: 'For Deborah, with many thanks and all best wishes, Thomas O'Brien.' Condition: The light blue covers are perfectly clean. The cover edges and corners are in terrific condition. The page edges are very clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages and covers. The pages are exceptionally clean. There's no toning and no soiling. The colors in the photos are vivid and crisp. Many beautiful photographs. I'm taking the proceeds from the sale of this book and hiring Mr. O'Brien to redo my home. I'm sure that would cover it. The pages are also in excellent condition, not a hint of a crease. No markings. No attachments. And no writing other than the signed inscription. The dust jacket looks perfect, perfectly clean, no wear. It is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've always had it in a fitted protective cover (note, as you look at the photos, that it is very difficult to get around the glare of the protective cover). From the dust jacket: 'The long-awaited book from acclaimed interior and home furnishings designer Thomas O'Brien, American Modern considers seven of his most influential projects in an introductory survey of traditional to modern interior style. Designer and merchant, collector and tastemaker, Thomas O'Brien has made a career of translating cool notions of modernism into an easy and generous array of modern styles that anyone can attain. Now he introduces readers to a range of those style--from casual to formal, vintage to urban--alongside stunning photography and charming design stories. O'Brien carefully describes the design process of his chosen projects, including a downtown New York City loft, a traditional Connecticut estate, and a converted schoolhouse in eastern Long Island. Each home explores a view on the modern design spectrum he has created, as well as the individual choices that make the design unique and its mix essentially American. He explains not only what was at work to create a given style, but how readers can import those practices to their own homes and personal design sensibilities. Important design principles such as architectural authenticity, color relationships, correctness of scale, and informed collecting are threaded through a practical narrative that reads like a master class in interior design. American Modern is an inspiring design volume that will redefine the way readers think about modern interiors.' Quoting from his Wikipedia profile: 'Thomas O'Brien is an American interior and home furnishings designer. His design firm, Aero Studios, and home store, Aero Ltd., are both based in New York City's SoHo neighborhood. O'Brien is a graduate of Cooper Union in New York City, where he studied photography, art and design. Following his degree, he worked briefly at Details magazine, before beginning his career at Polo Ralph Lauren. He worked on the styling and design of the Polo Ralph Lauren flagship store, the former Rhinelander Mansion, on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. He then assisted on the interior design of Ralph Lauren's private country home in Bedford, New York. O'Brien is often cited for his style of "warm modernism" and his approach of combining vintage, modern, and traditional influences in both his interiors and his product designs. He is regularly named to editorial top designer lists such as the Architectural Digest AD100, and his work is frequently featured in publications such as "Elle Decor", House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, and Veranda.'.
