Rensberger's notes and corrections do appear throughout the manuscript. The manuscript is broken into five parts: a prologue, three acts, and an epilogue. It is not, however, written as a play or screenplay. Instead, Rensberger offers history, highlights, memories and analysis of basketball in the state of Indiana, where he spent so many years as a sports journalist with the Indianapolis News, among other publications.Rensberger opens with the 1953 NCAA tournament, moves back through a history of high school basketball in the state during the prior decades, and weaves together famous and now-obscure names, games, stats and real, long held knowledge and enthusiasm for the game and its history in the state. The manuscript leaves off with the 1976 Indiana University men's basketball team's National Championship run. "To Be Completed in March," Rensberger writes as the final line of the manuscript and a fitting reflection at a certain point in any college basketball season. Rensberger never published this work.
