Hard Cover. Condición: Very Good Plus. Hard cover, 8vo in original decorated orange cloth blocked in black with theatrical cover design by Massachusetts designer Will H. Bradley, showing some design similarities to the work of Beardsley. (His signature "B" is at the upper right corner of the design.) Believed to be first printing of this early American edition, as later runs had variant covers. Illustrated with with photomechanically reproduced full page frontispiece, and three other full page images within the text taken from opening night of the work in Paris, 28th Dec., 1897. xviii, 214 pp. A small bookseller's label at rear gutter. CONDITION: Very Good Plus. Lacking dust jacket. Two small areas of fading to the upper right corner of front board, which is otherwise very clean. Minimal shelf wear with a bit of crimping at foot of spine, which is a bit faded. All hinges and joints are in order, book is square and lightly age toned, with small amount of foxing in the area of the frontispiece which affects the title page, as seen. Bookplate of a prior owner ffep. Influential American graphic designer WILL H. BRADLEY (1868-1962) worked in Massachusetts and on commissions abroad around the turn of the century. PROVENANCE: Collector bookplate appears to be of a notable sheet-music collector and pioneer of musicology, Lester S. Levy (1896-1989) whose large collection of American music is at John Hopkins Univ. Bambace A46. (AMJ). Will S. Bradley (cover design) (ilustrador). Book.…
