Hier verlegten namhafte Schriftsteller der deutschen Aufklärung ihre Werke, und Reich sorgte dafür, daß deren Bücher typographisch sorgfältig gestaltet und mit Illustrationen versehen auf den Buchmarkt kamen. Ph.E.Reich widmete sich der Verwirklichung buchkünstlerischer Ideen und setzte Traditionen fort, die in seinem Jahrhundert in deutschen Verlagen ziemlich in Vergessenheit geraten waren.
