Añadir al carritoRed vinyl LP with inner sleeve, liner notes page, and printed jacket. Issued as Slowscan vol. 48 in an edition of 250. Design by Johnny van de Koolwijk. E was a magazine of experimental and performance writing with a particular interest in visual, concrete, and sound poetry, edited by poet/performer Marshall Reese and composer Eugene Carl. There were two issues published in 1976. A note on the back cover of no. 2 states "next issue will be cassette or lp." Material for no. 3 was gathered though not published until now. In his extensive liner notes Reese describes the range of influences leading to the decision to pubishE, no. 3 as a sound recording, in particular, the Toronto Sound Poetry Festival of 1978. He writes, "this record documents those forces and influences affecting me in the 70's, early 80's. My generation was the the forefront of an expansion of literacy combining indigenous poetries, graphics, still and moving images, recorded words, music and sound, an oral/aural culture experiencing poetry and music as synesthesia." The contents of the record include performances by Steve McCaffery, Coaccident, Gerta Monach, Jackson Mac Low, Vladan Radovanovi?, Irrepressible Bastards, Hannah Weiner, and Gene Carl. As new.

She writes in an introductory note: "I mainly wanted to catch the flow of their energy, not for the sake of analytical study but as a direct reading of the performance at hand. Putting aside the conventions of 35mm and documentary photography, I became part of the event itself. I used continuous time exposures while hand-cranking the film through the camera.".

[26] leaves printed on one side only, including 14 color xerox plates. There is a small label mounted on each plate giving the title and date of the work depicted. Also with black-and-white textual illustrations. There is a very small area of soiling to the verso of 1 plate. Near fine. Collaborators Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese have worked together since the early 1980s. Their art includes videography, installations, sculptures and what they describe as "video books", several of which are illustrated here. The artists write: "For the past five years we have been working on a series of sculptures, which could be called 'video installations'. We prefer to use the term 'video books' to describe them. They are pieces, which make use of video in relation to printed media, such as newspapers and books. They focus on how we read the media and demonstrate that video and television, as vehicles for words and images, are texts to read and decipher. We expand on this metaphorically and have made book structures that incorporate monitors and video." They then go on to comment on the individual ''books", their origins and the materials used.Very scarce. We were unable to locate any copies in WorldCat.
