This copy is Signed by Rees on the half-title leaf, dated 9.12.87; Rees has also Inscribed the book on the verso of the front free endpaper: "To Chris, With loving good wishes & deep admiration / From Lloyd 4.7.88". A near fine copy, the dust jacket is rubbed and has some scratches, particularly on the front panel. "The aim of this book is to give a wide coverage of my painted work but with an emphasis upon the very early figure works and works from recent exhibitions which have never been published. Quality has been the main criterion for selection." - Lloyd Rees, from the "Note from the Artist". Lloyd Frederic Rees AC CMG (1895 - 1988) was an Australian landscape painter who twice won the Wynne Prize for his landscape paintings. Most of Rees's works are preoccupied with depicting the effects of light and emphasis is placed on the harmony between man and nature. Rees's oeuvre is dominated by sketches and paintings, in which the most frequent subject is the built environment in the landscape.

First edition. Limited edition of 250 copies (this copy being the last, #250). Signed by the artist. Hardcover. Oblong folio. Bound in full dark blue cloth, spine and front panel lettered in silver. In the original cloth slipcase, both book and case are very fine. Profusely illustrated with b/w and colour plates, with commentary. Flat-signed by Rees on the title-page, and dated 7.12.87. This heavy book will cost more to send overseas, than any default postage rate noted.
