Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a historical account of the North Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and its predecessor bodies, from its inception in 1803 to its present-day form. The author explores the synod's interactions with other Lutheran denominations in North Carolina, including the Tennessee and Missouri synods and the American Lutheran Church. The book also examines the role of Lutheran congregations in the state that are not affiliated with a synod or association of churches, and sheds light on the scattering of German immigrants to the New World during the 18th century and the factors that contributed to their migration, including wars, economic distress, and religious persecution. The author also highlights the formation of German settlements in the coastal plains, Piedmont, and mountains of North Carolina, and discusses the founding of the first permanent German settlement in the colony at New Bern in 1710. This book offers valuable insights into the history and development of Lutheranism in North Carolina and its significance in the religious landscape of the region. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
