This is a collection of twelve "Real Photograph Snap-Shots" produced by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd.  The images included are: Shakespeare's Birthroom Holy Trinity Church from the River Nine Gables, Stratford on Avon Anne Hathaway's Cottage Interior of Anne Hathaway's Cottage Grammar School, Stratford on Avon Clopton Bridge The New Memorial Theatre, Stratford on Avon Harvard House, Stratford on Avon Stratford on Avon Shakespeare's Birthplace Shakespeare's Statue, Stratford on Avon Holy Trinity Church, showing Shakespeare's Grave Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd was started by Raphael Tuck and his wife in London in 1866.  The company was particularly known for producing souvenir postcards, as well as greeting cards and photographs, and the company was part of the surge in popularity of postcards and other such souvenir ephemera that occurred in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. During the Blitz from 1940 to 1941 the company's headquarters were destroyed along with at least 40,000 of the originals from which they produced their photographs.  This set of 12 was found with a number of other souvenir items which appear to have come from the same trip to England, and some of which are dated 1935, meaning that these photographs are likely from the same date, and thus are an example of the pre-Blitz collection. This set is in good condition.  Each photograph is labeled on the back.  The envelope has some small tears, and three pencil marks on the front.  The glue on one flap has also dried out and no longer sticks the front and back together on one side.  The photographs themselves are all in excellent conditions, with some normal age-related discolouration on the backs of the photographs.…
