Condición: Fair. The "enthralling page-turner" (Library Journal) now a major motion picture starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert De Niro! Here is a gripping novel, inspired by real-life events, about a private team of British vigilantes that sets out to eliminate a gang of cold-blooded contract killers. From 1977 to 1990, four former British soldiers die, one by one, supposedly due to accident or illness. But soon a link is established between the victims: a shared mission in the desert kingdom of Oman, where they fought for a sultan against insurgents and ruined the life of a rival sheikh, who in turn has sent a band of assassins to methodically slay the soldiers and salvage his pride. Now these clever assassins are on the run from an underground group of SAS vets with nothing to lose, no time to waste, and a desire to dispense their own form of justice--no matter the cost. Previously published as The Feather Men.…

Hardback. Condición: Very Good. A vivid and illuminating biography of the famed T. E. Lawrence, written by "the world's greatest living explorer," Ranulph Fiennes. As a young British intelligence officer in Cairo, archaeologist and adventurer Thomas Edward Lawrence became involved in the 1916 Arab Revolt, fighting alongside rebel forces against the Ottomans. He made a legendary 300-mile journey through blistering heat; he wore Arab dress; and he strongly identified with the people in his adopted lands. By 1918, he had a £20,000 price on his head. Despite readers' long fascination in his story, Lawrence--one of history's most enigmatic adventurers--has long remained unknowable, But with in-depth knowledge of what it takes to venture into the unknown, this authoritative biography from famed explorer Ranulph Fiennes at last brings enthralling insight and clarity to this remarkable life.…

Condición: Fair. In November 1992 Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Dr Michael Stroud set out to achieve what no one had ever done: to walk and ski - unsupported - the 2700km across the Antarctic, a continent almost devoid of life, in temperatures of -45 degrees centigrade. They walked an average of 35km a day, surviving on what they could carry or haul. Fiennes developed a severe infection in his foot - so severe that antibiotics failed to work. Their food supplies ran dangerously low, and they battled against heavy winds which whipped their sledges out of control. At one point Stroud fell into a crevasse and Fiennes dragged him out before he froze to death. They pushed on, and after 95 days - the longest-ever unsupported polar journey - the pair radioed to be picked up, their journey having raised thousands of pounds for multiple sclerosis research. Containing many of Fiennes's photographs, this book is his account of the expedition.…
