This novel is so famous and in such great demand that all copies of the Doubleday first edition have been sold out, and the earliest on ABE is the 1946 Library of Congress reprint. Superbly illustrated by Schwabe with full page sepi…a-tone etching plates. Book is fine and unmarked. jacket has a very small spine corner chip and sporadic light dust offsetting (cleanable), and is bright and whole, and protected hy a Brodart archival Mylar jacket cover.

Own…er bookplate on the front pastedown, backstrip lightly toned, else Near Fine in a Very Good, moderately toned dust jacket with splitting along the rear hinge (see image). In a Good to Very Good example of the publisher's card slipcase, split along the bottom edge. Signed.
