Blue textured paper over boards have light bumping to edges and corners with mild surface wear; binding firm; interior pages clean and unmarked. Illustrated reference work documenting contemporary Zuni artists and craftspeople active during the 1970s, with particular emphasis on silver jewelry and traditional pottery produced on the Zuni Reservation in New Mexico. Includes color photographs of individual pieces including necklaces, bracelets, rings, inlay work, fetish necklaces, and ceremonial jewelry, together with portraits of the artists responsible for the work. Short descriptive texts identify individual silversmiths, jewelers, and potters and describe their techniques, styles, and workshop locations. According to the introduction by Barbara and Ed Bell, the publication was intended to document both established and emerging Zuni artists while helping collectors and traders identify authentic work during a period when imitation jewelry produced outside the reservation was becoming widespread. The book also records artist signatures, workshop associations, and stylistic characteristics that assist in authenticating Zuni jewelry. Includes index of artists, traders, and shops that carried Volume I of Zuni: The Art and the People.
