Text block ends are gilt. 400 pages; 384 b/w gravures; supplement; index. French language. The spine strip is rubbed on the corners, as are a few other small placed; one corner has a 1/8 in. chip. The boards' bottom, front corners are threadbare, and the top ones are less so. The cloth has shelf wear soiling and three, light stains. About 90% of the pages have foxing, from one 1/4 in. spot to myriad spots on the first and last several pages. Scans e-mailed upon request.

L'illustrateur de cette édition Charles Diodore Rahoult (1819-1874) est un peintre grenoblois qui deviendra célèbre en mettant ce poème en images, les illustrations sur bois présentant une grande finesse d'exécution - Intérieur très frais, reliure avec frottements au dos, reste un bon exemplaire.
