Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed documentation of a renowned Canadian boarding school, Queen's, during the early 20th century. Beginning in 1915, the book provides a nostalgic look back at the school's activities, both in the academic arena and on the playing field. The ambitious publication includes an extensive record of Old Boys â" those who left the school to join the First World War and, in many cases, made the ultimate sacrifice. It is the author's hope that, through this book, the memory of those lost will be honored and the lessons of the past will be remembered by future generations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very Good, plus some; see scans and description. Chicago: Educational Foundation for Nuclear Science,1975. The September, 1975 issue of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, that being Volume 31, Number 7. The famous and historic Doomsday Clock - shown on each cover or title page since 1947, two years after the publication's inception - here shows the time to be nine minutes of midnight as of late 1975. Quarto, illustrated staple-bound wraps, 56 pp. Very Good; original addressee label on front cover, some light soiling to covers; inevitable page-toning within is moderate; no other flaws. A handsome example; see all scans. Established in 1945 by biophysicist Eugene Rabinowitch and physicist Hyman Goldsmith in response to a correctly-perceived demand for nuclear information at the time by the general public, The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is without doubt the most historically significant non-technical publication on the subject of "'global security and public policy issues related to the dangers posed by nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, climate change,[2] and emerging technologies and diseases". Hence, over the years, BAS has become a geopolitical instrument, rather than a nuclear watchdog alone. Feature articles in this vintage 1975 issue: Nuclear Violence; Lawrence Livermore Lab; UN Agencies; Reactor Safety; Uranium Tailings; NPT Review; more. See scan of contents. Contributors include Samuel H. Day Jr. (Editor); Paul R. Ehrlich; Stuart A. Rice; Herbert F.York; Joel Primack; Fred Finlayson; Norman Rasmussen; Robert Weatherwax; Herbert J.C. Kouts; Frank von Hippel; Hans Bethe; David Dinsmore Comey; William Epstein; et al. Very, very scarce as the original monthly softcover issue. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. Añadir al carritoSheet_music. Condición: Good. [16] p.: music; 32 cm. Lacking wrapper. Removed from a volume of sheet music published from 1825 to 1850 with former owner's name on the front: "E. C. K. Seymour." These are not individual pieces of sheet music, but 11 songs published together. Contents: "My Boy Tammy," A Scotch Ballad [words by Hector MacNeill; arranged by John S. Macgregor] -- Oh, My Love's Bonny: A Celebrated Scotch Ballad; words by J. Finlayson; music by J. M. Muller -- There's No Land Like Scotland: A Ballad; composed by Edward J. Loder -- My Own One: Song; adapted to a Favourite Scotch Air, by David Lee -- My Bonnie Blue Eyed Lassie, O!: Scottish Ballad composed by Ch. Wodarch -- Adieu, Adieu, My Ain Sweet Land: The Words and Air by J. R. Mitchell; the symphony and accompaniment by J. Watson -- The Lass o' Gowrie, sung by Mr. Wilson -- Gentle Mary: Song; words by G. H. Barbour; music by Wm. C. The 10th song, Afton Water, has music by Richard Guin, described as "A Pupil of the Pennsylvania Institute for Instructing the Blind." The Pennsylvania Institution for the Instruction of the Blind (now Overbrook School for the Blind) was established in Philadelphia in 1832 by Julius Reinhold Friedlander, a German teacher of blind and visually impaired children. This suggests that the collection was published in Philadelphia around 1840. Another song by Guin was published in 1842 by Godey and McMichael in The Amateur's Musical Library. Very scarce. In Good Condition: lacking wrapper; first leaf and last are detached but present; light foxing throughout; otherwise, clean and solid. …
