ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- I am born in an island of Godavari nearer to sea 80+ years ago. My schooling was completed in Island Polavaram, Razole and Manepalli by 1957. I attended the college at Amalapuram, the biggest town in the Godavari delta of Andhra. I did Masters and a Doctorate at BITS, Pilani in Botany and Cytogenetics respectively. I worked at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, ICAR at Coimbatore and the Universities of Berhampur, Madurai, Coimbatore and Pondicherry, as a Senior Research Assistant, Junior Geneticist, Lecturer, Reader and Professor to retire in 2004, at the age of 62. Students were taught and trained by me at M.Sc, M.Phil and Doctoral levels. These associations resulted in about 100 research papers, 50 popular articles, 8 books, over 100 lectures in 35 universities and several research projects for UGC, CSIR, DOEF.
