Not price clipped (15s), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a reasonable copy for its age. 593pp. A light hearted novel which concentrates on a few weeks in the life of a village community in England leading up to a summer festival. Author, playwright and broadcaster J. B. Priestley (1894-1984), published it almost certainly to coincide with the Festival of Britain in 1951 it has a large cast of characters and perfectly captures the spirit of a bygone and simpler age. Jacket by Eric Fraser (ilustrador).
