Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Visible wear marks to boards. Boards are bowed.

A book of light verse ( often about dogs ), with humorous drawings by C B Poultney. This appears to be the true first issue of the same book published by Muller in 1966 referred to often as the first edition. Dustwrapper is a little worn and has a piece missing from the top cover corner by the spine, there are several splits in places too. It is a tad browned with slight marks but overall reasonably clean. The pictorial cover below reproducing the wrapper cover is sound and bright save moderate browning where the top corner is exposed. The text is tight and bright. VG in G dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

A wartime economy edition in order to save paper, this is a most attractive volume in itself, including adventures of both Pompey and Roderick Dhu as well as of Patrick the cat.

Spine is tanned and there are some small tears on the head and tail. Corners are slightly bumped and worn. Deckled edge to long edge and bottom of text block. There are some speckles to text block. Small amount of foxing to prelims an title page. One or two little speckles here and there but a nice copy overall. The pages, but for a few marks, are very clean. Red cloth covered boards with black titles to the front cover and spine, with the dust jacket. Book condition very good, slight rubbing to corners and spine ends, offsetting from jacket flaps on end-papers, pages are toned otherwise clean, no inscriptions. Dust jacket condition good plus, corners and spine ends rubbed and a little chipped with minor tears to corners and head of spine quite rubbed, folds rubbed, a little rubbing to the panels, spine a bit faded, not price clipped but no price is stated.

The spine has light fading where a piece is missing from the dust jacket. The fore-edge & the first 2 pages are very lightly spotted. The contents are clean & unmarked, the binding is tight. States: "First published in 1935". The dust jacket is missing the bottom 2/3rds of the spine with the rest barely holding on. The front & back covers + flaps are all complete & in Very good condition. Now covered in mylar.

The jacket has a detached front flap and there is heavy chipping to the top and bottom of the spine and along the edges of the spine. The spine is also darkened with some edge rubbing and a 4/- price label fixed to it. Chipping to the corners with a two inch closed tear at the top corner of the rear flap. Illustrated by the author. First printing.
