The dissertation is dedicated to two of Post's professors. Post evidently never practiced medicine, despite his graduation from Columbia.…Instead, he entered the drug-importing business, was active in New York City politics, a director of New York Hospital [1798-1802], and a single-term Federalist Congressman [1813-1815].
