Well over 200 pages of maps (mostly whole page) - according to the author - 'essentially there are two kinds: geographical speculation and literary fabrication. Many of the maps are from the Map Collection of the Free Libary of Philadelphia. The paper used is apparently 'a special map stock.' Condition - reasonably sound for a book of this vintage but with some condition-related elements to be aware of. The front cover has some obvious edgewear, creasing and rubbing in places; while remaining visually striking. This applies to the book's spine. The back cover also looks quite tanned/marked. Internally, the book is perhaps less obviously impacted by the passage of time and usage. There is certainly mild tanning throughout; slightly more advanced on the preliminary and final pages. The half title page also has a small section cut-off in the top right-hand corner (akin to price clipping). pp. xi, 283 (paginated). 8vo.
