From translator's note: "When I first saw Jean Cocteau's film, I considered it a rare experience in the realm of imagination. I was drawn to it again and again over the years. Imagine my delight when I learned that Cocteau had published his scenario in book form and had written for it an exciting commentary. It proved once again that this film is one of the greatests classics of the advance guard cinema and a masterpiece among the wrritings of Cocteau. Since it has often been my pleasure, in my career as a singer, to introduce to American audiences many unusual French songs, I take great pride in bringing to you now, in the role of a translator, this great piece of French visual music. I believe that those of you who have seen the film will discover a new excitement in the following pages and those of you who did not, will find an unforgettable experience in poetic and visual sorcery." - Lily Pons Printed in the United States of America. 53 pages.
