Thick pages generally very good w/newer pastedowns and endpapers at front, back; few at front mended w/acid-free adhesive. Gilt page edges. Bind intact. Illustrated with a dozen magnificent chromolithographic designs in colour with captioned page guards after original drawings by Eleanor Vere Boyle. Ornate decoration throughout. The eight tales comprise: 'The Wild Swans'; 'The Ugly Duckling'; 'The Fellow Traveller'; 'The Little Mermaid'; 'Thumbkinetta'; 'The Angel'; 'The Garden of Paradise'; and, 'The Snow Queen'. Printed at the Chiswick Press by Whittingham and Wilkins. 94 pages and two page catalogue of Sampson, Low & Co.'s New Illustrated and Other Works for the 1871-72 season. Insured post.
