Condición: Very Good. Wiersinga, Pim. Luud Schimmelpennink. Witkar. Amsterdam: Cooperative Association Witkar U.A., 1973. First edition. Square 8vo (8 11/16 x 8 3/16"), eleven folding plates and a single sheet of pink paper laid into a printed folder. Text in Dutch and English. Illustrated with photographs by Kors van Bennekom. The rare prospectus for the world's first electric car share program, the invention of Luud Schimmelpennink. The name Witkar (aka White Car) aligns the plan with the urban Provo projects, such as the White Bicycle Plan, which Schimmelpennink had been a driving force behind. The Witkar plan was fully launched 1974, the year after this prospectus was published, but struggled with logistical difficulties such as long charging times and lack of government support. The organization behind the plan formally dissolved in 1986. It remains an influential project, and plans are currently afoot to revive the idea in Amsterdam. Rare. OCLC locates 7 holdings worldwide. Contents fine. Folder with some staining and creasing and rubbing to extremities, good only but sound and fully intact.…
