Newsprint. Condición: Very Good. First Edition. Augusta, ME: The Vickery & Hill Publishing Company, 1931. First Edition. Illustrations uncredited. Volume 47, No. 10. Newsprint with color cover and some bi-color within. 13" x 10 1/2", 30 pp plus covers. Age toning to the newsprint, some chips at perpiphery of covers, some soiling…. A solid Very Good copy, with pages still supple. The now-scarce Augusta, Maine-based publication, focused on just what its title says: Good Stories. Lead and cover story in this issue is Roy Edward White's "Adrift", which appears to be a love/adventure story of a young flapper/aviatrix who crashes here craft without sustaining a scratch, from the illustrations. You could do that in the days of slow, light biplanes, of course. Other stories: Libbie Sprague Phillips' "The Wolrd's Judgment" ("I have no home.that is, no place that I dare claim for my home."; Arthur W. Patterson's mystery, "The Clothes-Pin Clue"; and what looks to be another mystery, Grace Canfield Freese's "A Matter of Inches" - all rather length tales, or so it appears. A plethora of interesting period ads compliment the stories, including one with several slections of dresses for the sartorially aware young flapper. In nice shape for newsprint piece of its age. Americana at its most genuine. - G. Not Credited (ilustrador).
