After the tour Shash takes her back to her parents, and as per her request, he returns to get her in thirty days. They marry in accordance with Apache customs, and she takes the name Dool, which means Butterfly. Dool spends the remainder of her life trying to help her adopted people assimilate into the white man's society, during the period, that white men are invading Apacheria, with the intention of taking this country for themselves.
