Frontis. Adolf Bolm in " Carnival" (sepia photogravure) + more than twenty full-page b/w plates distributed throughout. Adolf Bolm fea…tures again in the final plate with ('Mme') Tamar Karsavina in " L'Oiseau de Feu", a dance almost contemporary with the publication of this book. Hinges pulling at front and rear, exposing some binding. Main body of text gently toned, securely bound and free from foxing - there are some spots to prelims and last few pages of ads. The front pastedown bears the inscription ' This book is the property of The Vic Wells Association' (formed in 1922, so 7 year's after the book's publication), and stamps on ffep show that it was formerly in the prestigious Raymond Mander and Joe Mitchenson collection. The boards are sadly now soiled and faded, particularly to spine, which is splitting at the head. Top edge gilt darkened. The elegant gilt-stamped decoration and ruling at front remains bright and complete. An historically important book, now exceptionally Scarce.
