Añadir al carritoFirst edition. 4to, unpaginated, offset printed from typescript and drawing. Illustrated with two lithographs, of works by Nemi Frost and one unattributed work, and two drawings by Tom Field, who also contributes the cover, as well as drawings by the great Fran Herndon. Single issue of this longrunning, fugitive little magazine that was very much a mouthpiece for the poets that centered themselves around Gino & Carlo's Bar in San Francisco - a group which included Jack Spicer and some of the other gender non-conformative poets of the San Francisco Renaissance. The colophon even notes that manuscripts could be dropped off at the bar. Open Space was one of the most experimental and visually striking publications of the Mimeograph Revolution, with erratic numbering and lots of visual art thrown into the mix. This issue includes work by Jack Spicer, Richard Duerden, John Ashbury (i. e. John Ashbery - creative spelling held sway in the pages of Open Space), Lewis Ellingham, Graham MackIntosh, Robert Duncan, Helen Adam, Jamie MacInnids, Ronnie Primack, Lewis Brown, George, Gene Fowler, and s. A. Swain. Cover sheet and final leaf both smudged and creased, with a 2" abrasion to verso of latter, but still a sturdy very good example, and very scarce thus. The bulk and fragile construction of the magazine, the faith of the editor in a single staple always and the non-commercial method of distribution makes surviving copies scarce in any condition.

Añadir al carritoFirst edition. 4to, unpaginated, offset printed from typescript on rectos only, and stapled once at the upper left hand corner iunto an illustrated cover sheet. Two unattributed visual works within. The colophon even notes that manuscripts could be dropped off at the bar. Open Space was one of the most experimental and visually striking publications of the Mimeograph Revolution, with erratic numbering and lots of visual art thrown into the mix. The radical awareness of the form of the little mag and its ludic possibilities make Open Space, like My Own Mag, one of the most important formallly innovative publications of the Mimeograph Revolution. This issue includes work by Joanne Kyger, Harold Dull, Deneen Brown, E. Poe, Bill Brodecky, George, and Jess (a superb dream text entitled Critical Dreams IV (Haven).
