Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 20,5 x 29 cm, Hardcover, 64 pages, 40 colour illustrations - First monograph Valentin Carron s sculptures mark a renewal of appropriationist discourse: through the re-employment of vernacular forms that are not part of the dominant culture, the artist develops a project confusing genres. Neither authentic nor kitsch, not readymade nor really craft, these objects play with ambiguity (fake wood, fake concrete, fake bronze, etc.) and with an iconography of power and authority (public sculptures or commemorative monuments, traditional forms, etc.). Alongside several artists such as Andro Wekua, Mai-Thu Perret, and Vidya Gastaldon, Valentin Carron (*1975) marks the emergence of a new artistic scene in Switzerland. Published with the Centre d art contemporain, Geneva, and Kunsthalle Zurich.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 21,5 x 28 cm, Hardcover, cloth binding, 448 pages, 96 color & 267 b/w illustrations - Voids. A Retrospective is a paradoxical exhibition: by re-actualizing nine empty exhibitions, it is simultaneously an experimental project that refuses the classic rules of the visual arts and an historical object which confronts the projects of Art & Language, Robert Barry, Stanley Brouwn, Maria Eichhorn, Bethan Huws, Robert Irwin, Yves Klein, Roman Ondák, and Laurie Parsons. At once the support and an extension of the event, this publication outlines the concept of the void in art, aesthetics, philosophy, religion, science, popular culture, architecture, and music, and broaches the subject of nothing, of vacuity, of the invisible and the ineffable, of rejection and destruction. Opening with a catalogue section that documents the nine selected historical and contemporary exhibitions, the publication also contains an anthology of more than forty texts, many published here for the first time, as well as contributions by artists created especially for this volume.

Z : 17,5 x 9,5 x 27 cm, boxset, 32 softcover books, 480 pages with 480 illustrations - A series of 32 artist books in a boxset, in the comic book format, conceived in tribute to the late Steven Parrino. 250 copies limited edition. Each volume is linked in some way to Steven Parrino, by projects and exchanges, by friendship, by reciprocal inspiration. Black Noise celebrates a format that Steven Parrino was fond of, a culture that was familiar to him. The only constraint upon the authors invited in spring 2005 was the format and the title of the overall publication. Some directly evoke Steven Parrino's personality, whereas others produce a less referential contribution. With Rich Aldrich, John Armleder, Fia Backström, Sophie Bernhard, Peter Coffin, Philippe Decrauzat, Vidya Gastaldon & Fabrice Stroun, Gabrielle Giattino & Sarah Turner, Janine Gordon, Kim Gordon, Amy Granat, Drew Heitzler & Flora Wiegman, Jutta Koether, Alix Lambert, Balthazar Lovay, Brendan Majewski, Christian Marclay, Mass, John Miller, Thurston Moore, Olivier Mosset, Chuck Nanney, Genesis P-Orridge, Mai-Thu Perret, Carissa Rodriguez, Aura Rosenberg, Michael Scott, John Terhorst, Blair Thurman, John Tremblay, Elizabeth Valdez, Joan Wallace.

Añadir al carritoNear Fine in publishers decorated wrappers in slightly scruffy torn and dusty dustjacket. Mai-Thu Perret examines the relentless movement of capitalism as it absorbs and defeats what were once revolutionary forms, focusing on the aestheticization of historical avant-gardes to reflect the changing realities of utopian thinking. Her major ongoing project, "The Crystal Frontier," begun in 1999, comprises fictional diary entries and letters written by a group of disillusioned women exiled in the New Mexico desert, as well as myriad artworks that Perret describes as their "hypothetical products." Born in 1975 in Geneva, where she lives and works, Perret studied at Cambridge University and the Whitney Independent Study Program, New York. This comprehensive artist's book, Perret's first monograph, includes a selection of her writings and a specially designed collage of references. Perret's work has recently been seen at The Renaissance Society in Chicago. ISBN 3905701553.
