Die anschließende Differenzierung von Textsorten ergibt sich aus der Berücksichtigung weiterer Merkmalsdimensionen (Makrostruktur, Kommunikationsmodalität, Zeitbezug, Textthema u. a.). Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt auf der Skizzierung verschiedener journalistischer Textsorten, wobei die betreffenden Kapitel für die Neuauflage durchweg neu geschrieben und erweitert wurden.
