Hardcover has red textured cloth over stamped with black lettering & bucking cowboy & horse design to front/black lettering to spine. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages mildly tanned but completely unmarked. The first seven books in the series were first published in the 1930s and are about exploits in the air during World War I and have WWI endpapers. The Yankee Flier portion of the series is about World War II and have WWII endpapers. Al Avery (1894-1985) is the pseudonym of American author Rutherford George Montgomery. Avery is best-known for his works of children's literature. He wrote over 100 books in his career. NOTE: The endpapers for this copy are WW1 Bi-planes even though the story is about WWII. (it's my belief that the publisher made a mistake). Rear panel of DJ lists to this copy. Rear DJ Flap lists to Spitfire Pilot by Canfield Cook published in 1942.
