Truly a Renaissance man, Willie Park Jr. was an inventor with many ball and club patents, a champion player winning The Open Championship twice, author, club manufacturer, and golf course architect. Significantly, this book contains the first published information on golf course architecture in the chapter entitled, "Laying Out and Keeping Golf-Links". The delicate cover illustration is complete (often rubbed), no fading to spine and all gilt is present. The original endpapers are bright with uncracked hinges. A sound copy of the Fifth Impression, identical to the first edition, with scattered minor foxing. There is a small stain and "Mowbray M___" written on the upper title page. No bookplate, marginalia, underlining, creases, or tears. Covers protected in clear mylar. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
