Paul Georges Louis Berger est un homme politique français né le 5 octobre 1834 à Paris et mort le 8 juillet 1910 à Versailles. Biographie: Ancien élève de l'École des mines, il est ingénieur à la Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord. Il devient professeur à l'École des beaux-arts de Paris en 1876. Il participe à l'organisation de l'exposition universelle de 1867, est directeur des sections étrangères à celle de 1878 et contribue encore à celle de 1889 avec Alphand et Picard, ayant été entre-temps commissaire général de l'Exposition internationale de l'électricité et du Congrès international des électriciens de 1881. Il est député de la Seine de 1889 à 1910, inscrit au groupe des Républicains progressistes. -- Distinctions et hommages: Président de la Société de l'Union des Arts Décoratifs / Membre du Conseil Supérieur de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts / Président de la Société des Amis du Louvre / Grand officier de la Légion d'honneur / En 1912, la section de la rue Legendre où il habitait, dans le 17e arrondissement de Paris, fut rebaptisée rue Georges-Berger. The following maps are of the individual districts, very detailed with prominent features in red and vignettes of important buildings, parks, and boulevards. The population of Paris was over 900,000 at this time and was still a walled-city (until 1860). The maps show the results of improvements made under Napoleon to be followed by changes made after the Restoration of 1815 and the reign of Louis XVIII.

Añadir al carritoCHARLES DUPIN (1784-1873) französischer Mathematiker, Mathematik-Professor am Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers in Paris, Ingenieur und Politiker (1834 Marineminister). Er bemühte sich als Politiker um den Aufbau von Schulen, Banken, der Industrie (insbesondere der Verbreitung der Dampfkraft), von Straßen und Kanälen. Noch als Student entdeckte er die nach ihm benannten Dupinschen Zykliden. Er führte die Dupin-Indikatrix in die Differentialgeometrie der Flächen ein und asymptotische Linien auf Flächen (Developpments de la Geometrie 1813). 1826 veröffentlichte er eine Karte über die Verteilung des Analphabetentums in Frankreich. Jeder Bezirk wurde je nach Häufigkeit in verschiedenen Schattierungen dargestellt. Diese war die erste Choroplethenkarte. E.Brief (1 S. 4° Doppelblatt) mit Ort, Datum, Unterschrift signiert Paris, 20.1.1821 - in englischer Sprache an Sir RICHARD PHILLIPS (13 December 1767 2 April 1840 English schoolteacher, author and publisher, Sheriff of London) mit Dank "for the valuable number of your magazine which I have just received, I do send to you a speech of my brother (ein Bruder war der bekannte Anwalt André Dupin) in a celebrated trial of which he has just obtained a favourite Judgement".
