Gilt shield "Crede Byron" to front board. Spine professionally and sympathetically re-backed by a bookbinder using original spine with a replacement leather spine title-label. Copper-engraved title-page showing: Newstead Abbey painted by T. Crewick and engraved by E. Finden and copper-engraved frontispiece of Lord Byron at the age of 19 painted by G. Sanders and engraved E. Finden with tissue-guard between the two engravings and four pages of five 'facsimiles of Lord Byron's hand writing at various periods of his life' to the fore: I. At Harrow in 1803; II. From the Giaour, 1813, first draft; III. Marriage Signature of Lord and Lady Byron January 2nd 1815; IV. From Lord Byron's Diary, 1821; V. From Lord Byron's last Letter to Mr. Murray dated Missalonghi, February 25th 1824. Pale lemon-coloured front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns. Edges of boards slightly rubbed. Corners of boards slightly rubbed. A couple of very tiny unobtrusive double marks in margins by Roy Fuller in black fountain pen to one page of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. Very light sporadic foxing to prelims. Interior pages clean. Spine tight. viii prelim-pages including chronology of Lord Byron's Life and Works, plus four pages of facsimiles of Lord Byron's handwriting plus 827 text-pages including index to rear plus eight-page 'Select list of standard works published by Mr. Murray' dated 1837 (as called for) to rear. 250mm x 170mm. ***With scholarly notes to the bottom of the pages throughout. An antiquarian edition of Lord Byron's Works Complete in One Volume with two fine full-page copper engravings and five facsimiles of Lord Byron's handwriting to the fore, with ownership signature of Roy Fuller to top of ffep.
