Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the use of photography to study the heart's mechanics in cold-blooded animals. It presents two distinct photographic techniques, each with its own advantages and limitations, that allow researchers to capture and analyze the heart's movements in great detail. The first method involves taking a series of individual, momentary exposures, while the second involves taking a series of exposures on a single plate as the heart moves. The author provides a thorough explanation of each technique, including the necessary equipment and experimental setup. They also discuss the analysis of the resulting photographic data, including the use of graphs and stroboscopic techniques to reconstruct the heart's movements. The book concludes with a discussion of the potential applications of these techniques in the study of cardiovascular physiology. This book is a valuable resource for researchers interested in using photography to study the heart's mechanics. It provides a comprehensive overview of the available techniques and offers practical guidance on how to use them effectively. Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the relationship between human visions of color and the properties of light and the role these associations have played in the development of physics. The author argues that our understanding of the spectrum of visible light is not objective but rooted in human physiology and perception. They explore this idea through a series of case studies from the history of physics, focusing in particular on the work of Isaac Newton, Thomas Young, and Hermann von Helmholtz. By tracing the evolution of ideas about color from the seventeenth century to the nineteenth, the author reveals how the science of light is shaped by the limits of human experience and the cultural and intellectual climate in which it develops. Pflüger's Arch., 137. - Bonn, Verlag von Martin Hager, 1911, 8°, pp.545-570, 3 Abbildungen, orig. Broschur. Rare Offprint! Oskar Karl Maria Zoth (28 August 1864, Padua - 30 November 1933, Graz) was an Austrian physiologist. In 1888 he received his medical doctorate from the University of Graz, where in 1896 he qualified as a lecturer for physiology. In 1898 he became an associate professor, and three years later, was a named a full professor at the University of Innsbruck. In 1904 he returned as a professor to the University of Graz. In 1900 he was a recipient of the Lieben Prize. In an 1894 experiment he injected himself with a liquid extraction of bulls' testicles, then tested his muscle strength with a "Mosso ergograph". In regards to this testing, he stated "the training of athletes offers an opportunity for further research in this area and for a practical assessment of our experimental results".…

(Zitat).…
