It is the first radiocarbon-dated surface site in the Great Basin and therefore of considerable importance as a basis for comparison with undated surface sites having comparable tool assemblages, establishing their placement within a temporal context. The research team describe a cluster of six radiocarbon dates from 100 B.P. to 40301 100 B.P. that indicate the site was occupied during the Altithermal Period, (7, 500 to 4, 000 years ago) which was hotter and drier than present-day. They subsequently theorize, based on further comparisons with similar sites, that the site may be an extension of the Southern California Pinto Culture into the Great Basin cultural sequence. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
