Im Gegensatz zu der bislang üblichen Praxis erfolgt dieser als Airline Scheduling bezeichnete Planungsprozess simultan. Dabei steht die Modellierung des Passagiernachfrageverhaltens im Fokus. So werden die Nachfrage nach Hin- und korrespondierenden Rückflügen sowie sinkende Grenzerlöse bei einer steigenden Anzahl angebotener Sitzplätze explizit berücksichtigt.Zur Ermittlung exakter Lösungen kleinerer Probleminstanzen erfolgt die Konstruktion von leistungsfähigen, problemspezifischen Branch-and-Price Verfahren. Schnelle, annähernd optimale Lösungen großer Instanzen lassen sich mit Hilfe der entwickelten Heuristiken erzeugen. Anhand umfassender Praxisdaten erfolgt eine detaillierte Verfahrensauswertung.
