Their writings are offered to provoke thought, understanding and hopefully , change. Here is the story of a boy born the second of ten children in a dirt floor log cabin in the back hills of Kentucky. It is the story of his life of poverty and illiteracy. You see how, as you progress thru the pages, he experienced everything good and bad in life, how he lived and worked as everything from a thief to a pimp, from a farm hand to owning a legitimate business. He knew and experienced hunger, cold and violence. How he educated himself, with no formal training, to what he is today - a successful businessman, a happy satisfied family man; a man who over the years has consistently improved himself and never lost the love and closeness of family ties. There will be times when you will love Johnny North and times when you pity and hate him, but you will always admire his strength of character and persistence to live, and to do the best he could.
