Hundreds of cabinetmakers and other craftsmen are profiled in detail from their contemporary public records. The work is an important reference for furniture and social historians alike. ; Contents: Acknowledgments -- Foreword -- Introduction -- Alphabetical list of craftsmen -- Characteristics and peculiarities of Chester County furniture -- Side lights -- Bibliography -- Additional craftsmen -- APpendix -- Illustrations of signed and attributed furniture ; FINE.
