[Supplement to the Sunday Edition of the New York Press]; B & W Half-tones and pictorial ads; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 44 pages; September 19, 1897. Single issue weekly magazine published as a supplement to the New York Press Sunday edition Newspaper. The run of issues with the title of "Iroquois" was short; in October 1897 the supplement was retitled "Sunday Magazine of Intelligence and Entertainment." Octavo paperback in pictorial title lettered covers over side stapled binding. Pictorial cover from art work by Charles Charpiot in a style informed by art nouveau and the work of Aubrey Beardsley. This issue contains a feature article on the artist studio photography of Beatrice Tonnesson, accompanied by several half-tone reproductions of her work and of her working in her studio. Also featured is an article on the Shoshone Falls in Idaho penned by Alvah Milton Kerr, remembered for his dime novel and digest stories of the American west and speculative subjects. Also featured are a number of short stories and poems. Pictorial ad section of several pages at rear. This copy is clean and neat with just a pair of short tears to the spine edge and mild shelf evidence to covers. Quite scarce; only the NY Public Library holds a few physical issues. VG+.
