Octavo, 9" tall, xviii + 341 pages + plates; gilt titles on red cloth. A very good minus, generally clean, hardcover first edition with moderate shelf wear, slight fraying started at the spine corners; hinges and binding solid, text paper light to moderately yellowed with scattered foxing and a previous owner's name on the front endpaper. Without dust jacket.

Pages are lightly foxed, but otherwise free of marks. Four color plates, including frontispiece. Nimrod was the pseudonym of Charles Apperley, a well known sportswriter. This collection contains essays on, unsurprisingly, his horses, but also hare-hunting, road accidents, coaching in France, and more.

The binding is a little marked, and there is some foxing of the preliminary pages; overall, this book is in good plus condition.
