Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is the travelogue of Dimo and Nicolo Stephanopoli, two Greek scientists commissioned by the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Chronicling their arduous voyage from Corfu to mainland Greece during 1797-98, the text presents an intimate view of the region in a time of upheaval. The authors' observations serve as an invaluable record of the customs, traditions, and political climate of 18th-century Greece. The Stephanopoli take great pains to interact respectfully with the inhabitants of each region they visit, documenting the various landscapes, archaeological sites, and interactions with different groups of people. This book will be illuminating to both scholars of the region and anyone curious about the historical and political landscape of Greece in the late 18th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Añadir al carritoCouverture rigide. Condición: Bon. Edition originale. M1-Et2 Barbier IV, 1072. Blackmer II, 1020. …
