Nickalls and published in 1962 by The Tract Association of Friends out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A softcover measuring 5-1/4" by 8" and containing 48 internal pages. As stated on the title page, "The text is that of 'The Journal of George Fox,' a revised edition by John L. Nickalls published by Cambridge University Press, 1952." With a Publishers' Foreword, the book contains select passages from George Fox from 1635 to 1652. Short tear to upper outer spine edge; covers lightly sunned.

George Fox, through most of his life, did not keep a journal in the ordinary sense of a nearly contemporary day-to-day record. It was also Fox's habit to dictate, in preference to writing himself, if there was an amanuensis (secretary) at hand. In 1675, or possibly beginning in 1674, Fox dictated to Thomas Lower, his stepson-in-law, an autobiography down to the year of writing. This is now called the Spence MS. The Spence MS. has been published verbatim under the title The Journal of George Fox, by Cambridge University Press, 1911, 2 volumes, with an introduction by T. Edmund Harvey and full editorial notes by Norman Penney. It is referred to as "the Cambridge Journal." This present text is a condensed version of the 1911 text, which is a collection of a number of documents, journals, and letters. Condition: Binding square and tight, text unmarked, owner bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Although barely visible, and having no effect on the text's readability there is a manufacturer's blemish; apparently in the printing process about 10% of the upper portion of the pages has a slight ripple, perhaps felt more than seen (see photo of worst example, most pages are much less obvious), in unclipped, fresh dj with edgewear and slight sunning to spine (white lettering remains pronounced). DJ now protected in a removable mylar sleeve. Location: A3.
