Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of 216 Latin letters written by Gian Nicola Salvaigo, a Genoese humanist who was a member of the 'Humanist Circle of Ermolao Barbaro', to scholars, church leaders and other dignitaries of the 15th century. The themes and ideas circulating within the letters mirror those of the broader Renaissance humanist movement. Salvaigo discusses Greek and Latin literature, rhetoric and education, with observations on society, religion and philosophy interspersed throughout. Reflecting the trends of Humanism, the letters emphasize literary style, classical learning, and a concern for morality and ethical behavior. The book offers an insightful glimpse into the intellectual and cultural landscape of the early Italian Renaissance, making it of interest to scholars, students, and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of this transformative period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
